Here, we are going to study some different maps about Al-Andalus

Iberian Peninsula in 711
IBERIAN PENINSULA IN 711: After battle of Guadalete, Tariq and Musa began a fast conquest of the Iberian Peninsula, they conquered almost all Visigothic Kingdom. Boundaries bordered in the North with Caroligian Empire (Frankish Kingdom) and the little Astur Kingdom. Iberian Peninsula, was part of Ummayyad Caliphate with the name of Al-Andalus.

Iberian Peninsula in 756

IBERIAN PENINSULA IN 756: In 750 Abbasid Caliphate began. In Al-Andalus, the last Ummayyad prince, Abd al-Rahman, founded an independent emirate. It was called Emirate of Cordoba. In the north, Astur Kingdom spread through Galicia and North of Portugal.

Iberian Peninsula in 929
IBERIAN PENINSULA IN 929: Abd al-Rahman III, proclaimed the Caliphate of Cordoba, with political and religious independence. In the north, Astur Kingdom began to be called Leon and Pamplona (Navarra) appeared as a new christian kingdom.  In the east-north, Frankish Kingdom founded Spanish March (Marca Hispánica) also called Catalonian Counties.

Iberian Peninsula in 1031
IBERIAN PENINSULA IN 1031: After the fitna (civil war) the Caliphate of Cordoba was desintegrated in 26 independent kingdoms called Taifas. In the north, Leon and Pamplona (Navarra) spread  to the South.

Iberian Peninsula in 1200
IBERIAN PENINSULA IN 1200: Taifas kingdoms disappeared after the conquest of Almoravids, in 1147 Almoravids were conquest by Almohads. Almohads had their capital city Seville. In the north, appeared the Kingdom of Portugal, the Kingdom of Castile and the Kingdom of Aragon (with Catalonian Counties)

Iberian Peninsula in 1212
IBERIAN PENINSULA IN 1212: In 1212 Christian Kingdoms of the North allied against Almohads. After battle of Navas of Tolosa, they achieved to eliminate the Almohads power and to conquest almost all territory, except the Nazarí Kingdom of Granada.

Iberian Peninsula in 1482

IBERIAN PENINSULA IN 1482: In 1469 Isabel of Castile and Fernando of Aragon got married. So, their territories (Castile and Aragon) were unified. This is the origin of actual Spain. Some years later, in 1482, Catholic Monarch decided to conquest the Nazari Kingdom of Granada, the war of Granada begins.

IBERIAN PENINSULA IN 1492: In 1492 war of Granada ended. Catholic Monarchs conquered the Nazari Kingdom of Granada. In fact, this is the end of muslims power in the Iberian Peninsula.
